Ebikes vs. Non-Electric Bikes

Updated: Feb 23, 2022

The difference between an electric bike and a traditional bike is the addition of a motor.

Motor

Regular bikes, otherwise known as traditional or analog, do not have a motor attached to the gears which result in the rider needing to provide all the power for motion. With an ebike your motion will be assisted by peddle assist or throttle assist or both!

Peddle Assist

Almost all ebikes are peddle assist ebikes which means that as you peddle, the motor will provide varying degrees of output to help you move and exert less effort.

Throttle Assist

In addition to peddle assist, most ebikes also have throttle assist. Throttle assist allows you to engage the motor with the push of a button or twisting your wrist. Throttle assist is great for those that want quick acceleration and the ability to zip up hills quicker.
