Just bought a new Ebike? Well here is something very important you should know!
Not everyone will tell you how to take care of your battery when you purchase your Ebike, but we will. We want t0o you to be able to enjoy riding your Ebike for years to come.
Not taking care of your battery will drastically shorten the lifespan, resulting in battery rear errors, reduced range, not charging all the way and many other symptoms. Don’t forget the cost of replacing a battery!
Here are a few tips to help prolong the life of your E-Bike Battery.
- Never leave your battery out in extreme cold or heat. If you live in a very hot or cold climate be sure to bring your battery inside and keep it in a cool dry area. It’s okay to ride your bike in these climates, just don’t store or leave them in it!
- Never submerge your battery in water… Yes, you would think this is common sense but, we can’t tell you how many Dead E-bikes come into our service department because someone thought it was a good idea to soak the battery in water or ride it into a deep puddle. Ebike batteries are designed to be water resistant, not waterproof! If you get water inside your battery it’s probably no good and unsafe to keep.
- Don’t leave your Battery in the bike during transportation. The constant harsh vibrations from your car are not good for the internal components in the battery. Remove the battery during transportation, this will also make your ebike lighter and more manageable.
- When plugging your ebike battery in to charge, be sure to plug your battery or ebike in first before you plug it into the wall. The instant high voltage from the charger may shock your battery if you plug it into the wall first.
